That Hitachi has the solenoid on the other side against the block.
Mine is on the outside, just clears the chassis.
I gather that you have used that one Damien and it fits OK. I would like to be sure before I buy it.

No never used it, mine has a big 12v one that i had laying around. But i know of people that have used it on there 4bd1 with msa gearbox. Sheldon put me onto this one as well. Which i do plan to upgrade to it oneday
Go look around any heavy truck wrecker. Cummins NH & NT 855's used a series parallel switch.
Re the 12 volt alternator. I took my 24 volt in to my sparkie as he said he could find a 12 volt one. Seems its not easy.
Does anyone have a part number etc of the 12 volt one that bolts straight up?
I have been trying Sheldons number but no answer.
PS I gave him the number in the parts reference thread but he cant match it.
Are you serious he couldn't find one?? I would go to another auto sparky.
Or you could do what i did and fit a patrol one, i just had to swap the pulley over.
I will message sheldon that you are looking for him
Have a look at this one Keith.

Keith I assume you have the army 110 parts scale. If not starter part no is

I thought this was a MMC truck part (not same as County) but 12v, which probably explains why they were so pricey.
Just found the MMC part no.
