    Bellhousings/Adapters County/Perentie?

All, thank you in advance for any experience/insight you may have to share. the factory adapter on the Isuzu engines for the County and the Perentie, were these unique for each, or essentially the same other than the pattern for the LT85 vs LT95?

The reason I ask is members of this forum have suggested replacing the LT85 on my County with a TR4050 5-speed, and there is a perentie adapter already located for it, so im trying to confirm whether it would work with the County same as it does for the Perentie and while im ok working and wrenching on engines, suspension, and bits, gearboxes are somethin ive not (yet) tackled.

If the miilitary and civilian engine setup are the same up front (same pattern for the bellhousing to connect with the 4BD1), and the same in back, to connect to the LT230, does it stand to reason a bellhousing mating a TR4050 with these for a perentie would also work for a County?

I have not compared them, but since the Isuzu engined County was an offshoot of the Perentie program, I would be very surprised if there were differences, although I am aware that the starter is different, and this may have affected it. Somewhat more cautiously, I would expect the adapter on the Series 3 Stage 1 Isuzu engine (also an offshoot of the same program) to be the same, although the later one may have been modified in light of any issues found.

    Hi,
I don't believe there is an adapter as such.

Land Rover use a different clutch housing to the Isuzu truck one

I don't know if each gearbox has a dedicated bellhousing to suit the Isuzu motor.

Something must be different for the LT85 and LT95, as people have used the LT85 bellhousing to fit a R380 to the Isuzu, I don't know what's involved.

    KLR have a kit to convert a LT95 a to R380, I don't know if they use a LT85 housing or a custom one.

As for the TR4050 adapter, what transfer case does it use?
The Perentie used the LT95 this gearbox which has an integral transfer case, not a LT230.

Thank you for your input. I spoke with Brad at KLR about an R380 conversion kit, and being the helpful gent he is, and as I'm in the USA he is the one who actually suggested I may want to also look into the TR4050 as an option because it's made in the USA and there is a Perentie conversion kit for it that also uses the LT230.

That all said, I'm leabing towards the R380 as there are gobs of them around and they are proven, but want to understand whether the Perentie bellhousing for the TR4050 might work on a County.

As a last resort I can pull them both off my trucks, as I am going to replace my LT95 with another LT95 shortly anyway, and have a good chance then to review side by side, but was hoping someone with more knowledge about those particular bits might know before I go tinker.

Have a 4BD1 (+Turbo) coupled to a TR4050 with LT230 behind. The adapters came as a kit from Quickdraw Brand in USA. It was all fitted by Ben at Ausrover in Bathurst. I don't know about the County engine being a suitable power plant.

Thank you for the endorsement. How many km's have you had it? Both the County and the Perentie share the Isuzu 4BD1, and the County has had a turbo added, so I know the Quickdraw bellhousing will mate with the County motor, and IF the bellhousing dimensions are the same between the two I imagine it should work, but would ease my mind to know the County and Perentie each with 4BD1 had the same dimension bellhousings, spacing to transfer case (or the adapter would address any difference) beforehand.

I haven't had it out much as I'm very busy with work. Probably only about 3,000Km

    Hi,

Another thing to consider with choice of bellhousing / trans / TC is whether the output flanges of the TC end up in the stock position so you can use stock prop shafts.............. makes it a lot easier if you can.

The Quickdraw kit includes am adapter to reuse the lt230, but I am as yet unsure how this is approached, as there haven't been any photos or diagrams provided. Thank you for the input!

I'd suggest you get on the phone and have a chat with Kerrie or Chad. They're very approachable and very helpful. I'm very happy with the set up I've got. My LT 230 has been beefed up and has an Ashcroft ATB fitted.
