T3 flange? so what turbo is that then? My T28 has a T2 flange doesn't it? I don't have solidworks, but if there is any way to convert it to a format I can open, that would be great.

Yes the T2 flange on a T28 is a skinnier rectangle than the T3. Nothing that can't be solved with a cunning adaptor. One of the garrett catalogues has a full set of flange drawings with the dimensions in the back.
Interestingly the stock Isuzu turbo for these was a T25 with no wastegate and a T3 mounting flange.

I'm sure I can export to most cad packages, let me know what you've got. Alibre is free but I haven't used it.

The T3 flange was used on the old garrett T3's, some of the garrett T4's and a whole slew of holset (used on cummins) and kkk/schwitzer turbos. The Garrett T3's are commonly found on european turbo cars (volvos, saabs, mercedes) and nissan RB engines. The single turbo from a Nissan RB20 would be a good match and quite similar to what we're looking at in those photos. I think Andrew E uses one.

according to a Garrett brochure I read the T3 is the most common turbo. There seems to be a lot of T25s out there.

I seriously considered a T3 from a SAAB, as had a small a/r on the turbine (hot side).

I ended up with a t25 manifold so went with GT28R. It goes well. Not that I've any thing to compare it with.

BTW John project is looking great.

Hmm - just went and measured mine. That may just fit - anyone have a PN for that manifold?

The T3 used to be the staple, but some years back garrett changed their entire product line to run on the same design as the smaller T series, that's when they started producing turbos with GT as the model number.

The GT2052 is the closest thing in the current range to the old T25, the GT2560 is the closest thing to the old T28. T3 flanged ones aren't in the aftermarket catalogue but will be available if you know what to ask for, they do a whole range of "drop in" replacements for other brands turbos, but they don't seem to advertise this.
