shannons...
Ok, we now know what the Isuzu is worth in the 'real world', not that red book ****e. This leads me to insurance. I have been looking around for weeks trying to find an insurer for agreed value, just as thin on the ground as 4BD1 110's. I need to get this sorted for my around Oz trip. I leave in 10 days , so time is running out.
I paid around the 'Real' market for mine and so far I have added a fair bit of goodies.
Have also done about 75% re-build
All up probabley spent the same if not more then what I paid for it yet market value quoted this week was $3700....I would be looking for an agreed at least 10k...
Some ideas on insurance would be good......
Bye the way,I am keeping this one until I can't drive it....
Thanks,
Paul

shannons...
Shannons will not insure vehicles for general use. I have been there! I tried to get insurance for my 2a, but it is unobtainable, as it is commercially registered (it has third party property). Most companies will not look at the 2a as it is too old to appear in their computer, so they have no idea of the value.
Could be possible for the 110, but again, limited mileage - and I do a lot of miles. It is currently insured for $6,000 with NRMA, but I expect problems with the next renewal later this year. It does help to have some leverage - they also have my farm insurance.

???? Since when. I have obtained quotes from shannons several times for daily use vehicles. You just need to prove to them you fit their criteria as an "enthusiast". I didn't go with them as their quotes were always more.
My IIA has full comprehensive with suncorp. So does my father's. It is LESS than TPP+F+T. The 2 front runners when I re-registered my 110 were DGA and Suncorp.
Good luck trying to get insurance for its full value though. A guy in the Brisbane LR club has a mint county with all the bells and whistles. The insurance he was with (TCIS?) were making him get annual valuations by an indepent valuer (which wasn't exactly cheap).
I have TCIS cover on the Disco at agreed value due to all the goodies, and have not been asked to get a valuation. However, it is contingent on me remaining a member of LROCV.
Never had to claim on the policy so never really tested it out!
I have three vehicles insured with Shannons - all for business use - two Land Rovers and a high performance car - the two Rovers are agreed value and the car current market value. Shannons have been outstanding, their pricing very competitive - three vehicles insured for a smaller premium than a major competitor would charge to insure the car.

PS Was that your very tidy at Bristish Off Road a few weeks ago OLR?
I got a quote from Shannons a couple of weeks ago as mine is currently insured for market value of upto $6000. Shannons insured for private use. They would insure for ageed value of about $16000 for my 1989 perentie/county. Insurance was only on gazetted roads (includes vehicle access beaches).
I was looking at a higher agreed value as vehicles similar have sold for a lot more. They suggested FWD Insurance.
L322 tdv8 poverty pack - wow
Perentie 110 wagon ARN 49-107 (probably selling) turbo, p/steer, RFSV front axle/trutrack, HF, gullwing windows, double jerrys etc.
Perentie 110 wagon ARN 48-699 another project
Track Trailer ARN 200-117
REMLR # 137
I must admit I have not tried Shannons with the 110, but got a definite no from them on the 2a. Last year I was reasonably happy with NRMA for the 110, but as mentioned above, I expect a ridiculously low amount come next renewal.
I can't remember whether I tried Suncorp last year, but I did go round most of them.

I had one go round of trying to get a quote from Shannon's for the Defender.
Not a enthusiasts car, they said.
At the time they were insuring my wife's Subaru Liberty.
Because she'd overlapped insurance on her Datsun 510 with the insurance on the Liberty.
So, just go out and buy a 510 and Shannon's will be happy to sell you insurance.
Cheers

I am about to take out insurance through TCIS. See the quote below. Not a bad premium, but I do live in the country which makes a difference.
My vehicle has a 4BD1t and an extensive list of accessories and mods. I asked for an agreed value of $24000 and they offered me $18000. I don't think I will get a better offer than this. The underwriter is Lumley Special Vehicles. I am currently with RACV, but when I notified them about changing the V8 to a Turbo Diesel they refused to let me retain the agreed value of $15000, even though I had increased the value of the vehicle (some company policy BS)
I too am heading off on a trip soon, through the Centre to the Top End, so I want the right cover.
This motor quote provides cover for off road 4WD activities including beach driving and water crossings. The cover is Australia wide with no geographic restrictions.
