    Air Cleaner Dump Valve

I've just got myself a 1986 County with a 4BD1 in it and starting from a position of total ignorance I thought I'd check out the air cleaner and change the filters er.. "elements" if required. While I was there I noticed the rubber dump valve was badly perished and I've been trying to find a replacement.
Scouse tried to help me out but his parts manual shows some complex arrangement of four (expensive) parts making up the valve whereas I just have this rubber 'ducks bum' type of thing.
Can someone tell me what is the correct dump valve to have and where I can get one from?

It's about 75mm diameter. Sticks straight down from the air cleaner housing near the end with the removable lid. The rubber bit has PIO-3198 moulded in it.

The Donaldson Part # is P103198. Phone your local truck parts mob (Colrain, Truckline etc) for a price. See also Donaldson Accessories Catalogue p 44

Thanks for the replies everyone. PM sent Chris.
So the one piece rubber valve is the correct type to have on my County. What happens if I want to fit a snorkel? Should I seal off the dump valve opening or is one in good condition waterproof?

Waterproof is not exactly the term I would use - they are a one way valve. You will find a similar gadget below the water line on the transom of many sailing dinghies. It allows movement of fluids (air or water) only in one direction (out) being open when the pressure is greater inside the aircleaner and shut when the pressure is lower than outside. Using this principle the pulsations in pressure from the intake manifold eject any accumulation of dust on the bottom of the air cleaner housing - this is why you should not remove it even if you are using a snorkel.

If you are in deep water, the pressure outside the dump valve will be much higher than the pressure inside, so no water will enter.

The summary is simply that for deep wading, the dump valve needs to be in good condition - but the same applies to every joint in the intake system, plus of course to your engine breather (presumably redirected up the snorkel along with the transmission and axle breathers and other "sealed" points such as the breathers on the hydraulic and PS reservoirs.

Isuzubob, I don't think you have the correct part number there.
The 4BD1 has a special "Pulsator" air cleaner and the valve is harder than the standard 3"
I'll see if I can find the right number. It is best to quote the part number of the aircleaner to get the correct valve. The standard ones go to pieces very quickly. However, they will last on a turbo as it takes out the pulsations.
