    6BD1 PAS Pump???

Does anyone out there know if the 6BD1 PAS pump has a larger flow rate than the 4BD1? I know Bush65 asked the question, but I don't think it was answered...

Conversely - is there anyone with an 4BD1 and a hydraulic winch?

I don't recall asking about 6BD1 PAS pump - but I did ask about using 6BD1 oil pump (and didn't get a response).

I wouldn't expect the 6BD1 PAS pump to be larger than that for a 4BD1.

I have a hyd winch in my rangie. When I had the LT230, I used a maxidrive pto adaptor for the hyd pump. Now with the 4BD1-T I want to drive the pump from the engine. One thought that I haven't taken very far yet is to replace the gear driven PAS pump with my hyd pump and using a pressure reducing valve for the PAS circuit. I want to use a York compressor for onboard air, so there is not much space to mount the hyd pump with a V-belt drive.

Thanks John - sorry for the mix up. So you don't think the stock PAS pump could run a hyd winch? Don't need it to be fast, just reliable.

From memory the 6BD1's have a completely different front accessories setup.
Different pump, provision for an air compressor, different injection pump mounting and other shennanigans.

Thanks Dougal, I haven't had anything to do with 6BD1's.

I think it would do what you want in that case.

In my case I have a couple of larger hyd pumps here, and I'm interested in giving them a go.

I run a 6BD1 PAS pump on my Isuzu. It works fine and is a longer pump than the 4BD1 type. Not much room between it and the chassis crossmember at the front. I am not sure about the flow rate but I have had someone say that my steering is lighter than his. Maybe the flow rate is higher but it doesnt seem to affect the box seals.

It's the 6 cylinder version of the 4BD1 found in Isuzu trucks. They also come with turbo too.

You can fit one to your Landy if you extend the chassis at the front by about 2 feet, along with the radiator etc etc............then you can see how many gearboxes and diffs you can blow up ..........oh yeah, you will also have to replace your front springs with 100 x 100 RHS welded to the chassis and the axle housing.
