    Isuzu County Gearbox's

    Gday everyone..what gearbox's are found in isuzu countys ? i have herd of lt85's and lt95's
    which one is the 4 speed and which one is the 5 speed ?
    and have read about transfer case ratios being to high which gearbox combination's where they ?
    which box is considered stronger ?

    The lt85 is the 5 speed box and is considered to be weeker then the lt95 4 speed Not shore about the high ratios but if it's tru i would say it would be an lt85 problem seeing it's 5 speed and we own a county with an lt95 in it the gearing is fine
    I'm pretty shore they are the only 2 boxes that origanly came with the county's.
    Never experianced an lt85 but my choice would be the lt95 for it's strength and durability!!

    all as mentioned.

    theres 2 (ok theres more) main sets of high range transfer cases. .996 and 1.123

    .996 for the diesel with the higher torque low down

    1.123 for the rev monkey petrol.

    Use an R380 on an LT85 bellhousing - British Off Road have jig that thye used to do mine - running perfectly. you will need to use a late suffix 300 TDi box - K or L - mine has done well over 55000 ks (total 27000ks) behind my 4BD1T without out any problems at all - the ratios are spot on (1.2:1 TC) for the engines torque and power curves, and work very well indeed.

    Ashcrofts in the UK recomended using and R380 and said that it is stroger in their opinion than an LT 85.

    Yes the r380 is a grate box!!

    I assume you mean for LT95s???

    4BD1/LT95 had 0.996:1 high range.

    4BD1/LT85 had 1.003:1 high range.
