Thread: Isuzu 4BD1-t Things to look out for ?

Gday everyone, i think i have just bought an isuzu county goin to have a look at it and if alls ok i will buy it, its had the chassis bent and its classed as an repairable write off...iam only interested in the doors,engine and gearbox...are there anythings to look out for in particular with the engine ? as i wouldnt have a clue what to look for.

There is little likeliehood of problems with the engine itself, but if it is a turbo, it is a conversion, and the quality of conversion may be a question.

Look for leaking crankshaft seals, front and rear, leaking sump gasket, O-ring seals on the pipe to the oil filter, leaking oil return on the vacuum pump, but these are all relatively easy and cheap fixed. Check the air cleaner mounting brackets for cracking.
