That matches my thoughts on the matter.
Too many turkeys on the net talking up lag and not really understanding it.

Yeah, when I got mine I was a bit reluctant to cover up the whole radiator, and I got the IC cheap, so I was happy at the time. But now I'm a lot more 'in tune' with my Isuzu powered County having had it on the road for some time. Before posting this thread I was pretty sure that a bigger IC would be beneficial, but It's always good to get the collective thoughts of everyone on here.
I'll keep an eye out for a bigger IC which will be a good fit in the space I have available. I can always use the one I have on my 120, when I finally start to restore it........Hmmm, an IC on the 120, that must mean that my subconscious has already decided to fit a turbo to it ;)
Cheers, Murray
Something like this?
15.9 Litres V8 twin-turbo CR 17.25:1
390 kW (480 hp) @ 1800 rpm
2,400 Nm @ 1080 rpm

LxHxW 29"x34"x2" = 1972 cu in

Well I reckon if I have any lag I cant feel it and neither can anyone else who's driven ours. It has so much torque and the TD5 turbo with our custom manifold builds boost that quick it just pulls all the way to the govenor. We did,nt work it out we just fluked it:D

Hay murry, do you find that your intercooler isn't working? Is that why you are after a bigger one?
Just trying to suss out what size to get, I can get one that is a bit taller than yours but is it required? If yours has a noticable drop in temp across it or the intake manifold is fairly cool after a good run then it might be of sufficient size.
Nah, my intercooler works fine, very well in fact..........it's not a case of NEEDING a bigger one, it's a case of WANTING a bigger one
Seriously though, after tweaking my fuel and boost levels, the EGT's are still acceptable, but higher at full load than I'm totally comfortable with. Fitting a generous size IC will reduce the EGT. And depending on how much the EGT is reduced, it might even allow me to tweak a little more, but retain lower EGT.
If you can get an IC a bit bigger than mine, I think it would be a good move. Given the comments on this thread so far, there would be more pro's than con's for the bigger size.

We used to use a stick on fish tank thermometers, cheep and easy. Just stick one on the pipe each side. The pipe work would hold the heat for enough time to stop get out and pop the bonnet, but about 15deg above ambient is about the best you could hope for with air to air
I recently got a 550 x 230 x 65 (21.5 x 9 x 2.5 in old speak ;)) - sounds very similar in size to JC's. Yet to fit it on...
