Whats the condition on the inside?
Is there any rust in the firewall footwells or under the doors?, that's the bit which concerns me the most.

P.S. Ive always liked the old disco steel rims on the fenders, look a bit better than the old RRC steel jobies I wrecken.

P.S. WHERE ARE THE PICS???

There was some slight rust in the bottom of the doors, but it has beeen fixed up and car recently re-fish oiled.

Couldn't find any anywhere else.

Nice pick up, virtually just like my first County.
Those Rangie steel rims, whilst also originally fitted to some Ninety/Defender County's, are not rated for the load carrying capacity of lwb LRs.

Lucky bugger, sounds like you got the opposite kind of purchase to me. I just bought one, 1985, 410k, 3.9 non turbo, lt95, salisbury rear, brown, 2" lift, rear polyairs, arb winch bar, dual batteries, roof rack, solid rock sliders, negligible oil leaks and a uhf for $8000.

Thought that was a pretty good buy, i knew it needed a new clutch, a bit of work on the power steering box and had a bit of play in the front prop shaft. After a bit of 4wding through the usualy tracks a mate and i take his 60 series cruiser i decided i needed a locker, so i got that put but got it back to find my axle seals leaking, not badly but enough to make me check. Pulled the left rear hub apart to find my brakes full of oil/water and grease due the seals being almost completely destroyed and most of the gaskets/washers had been replaces by silicone. Also the splines were extremely worn to the point where some of the edges were actually razor sharp.
I also found that the metal around the join between the firewall and the floor was severely rusted but rather than being repaired had just been taped over to keep the water out.

On the upside though, at least i know where all my money will be going for the next few weeks and it's given me a perfect excuse to upgrade a few things while i'm at it too.

Congratulation on the purchase though and i hope you don't have the same surprises i've had.

Where abouts did you get that one from, sounds similar to another one that was for sale around here, I think it was at Sylvania (NSW).

No nasty suprises yet. Just put new pads and rotors in the front, new shoes in the back, rear drums were in good condition as were wheel cylinders. Getting new ball joint/tie rod ends and axel end caps next week when I get it serviced. Nothing major.

Assuming you got it for the buy it now price, and there are no expensive surprises, you got a bargain.
