    Engine Servicing........

I've now done 23,000 kilometres in the County and apart from an oil change and having the brakes adjusted, nothings been done by me.

Can you advise what should be done service wise for the Isuzu diesel ?? Mine's the 4BE1 engine. I know the tappets were done when I collected it,all oils were changed along with new filters.

It's running perfectly, starts first time every time although it has been puffing out a bit of black smoke lately, any advise appreciated.

I can suggest new oils and filters all round every 10k or less.

Flush coo;ing system and put a can of injector cleaner in tank.

Also change all gearbox, diff and brake fluid. Check pad wear and clean or put in new air filter.
Get a grease gun and go crazy at the nipples.
This is very basic stuff and possibly all needed.
fresh oil is essential in these cars.

Bit like changing clothes and taking a shower after a weeks worth of work.

As long as these engine's have got clean oil, clean fuel and clean air, that's about all they need, if you're just talking about normal servicing. You will get varying opinions on this, but change your oil every 5000kms.
Further to that, you could check your gearbox oil levels, give your uni's and prop shafts a squirt with the grease gun etc etc.

As above, but I wouldn't bother with the valve clearances until about 50K intervals, Mine has had very few of these and when I went to check them 40K ago, were still fine.
