    Hello from England...PLEASE HELP!

    Hi there guys n gals.

I have a problem with my Landy/Isuzu setup, I have a 2.8TD 4JB1-T lump in my Landy (1986 90 4c) and have recently had problems with some wiring installed by the previous owner.

My main problem is that i cannot seem to get any voltage from my alternator as it is and am now starting to question whether or not the alternator is shot or the wiring is not right.

Can anybody, tell me catergorically what colour wire needs to be fed to what in my Landy loom as i have been told by a lad on another forum that he only uses 2wires??!!

There are 4 in total on my alt. 1x Large white wire that goes to Batt.+ via starter motor.
    1x white wire
    1x white/red
    1x black/yellow

I am unsure from here what needs to go where and am pulling my hair out as i cant drive her any longer the way she is.

PPPPLllleaseeee help me as im at my wits end now and i dont like to pay for an autospark to come and patronise me!!!!!

Are there any identifying marks on your current alternator? Brand etc?

When it comes to alternator problems, I find the easiest way is to remove it and take it to an autoelectrician and get them to bench test it. This is easy for them to do, so shouldn't cost much, and at least you will know if the alternator is operating correctly. While your there, simply ask them to tell you how it wires up for when you re-fit it.

Those wire colours are not what Land Rover use. They are (from my manual):
Brown - large +ve to battery
    Black - earth
Brown/Yellow - to warning lamp in dash
    White/Grey - from W terminal to tachometer

From my Isuzu 4BD1-T manual, there are:
    'BAT' to battery +ve
    'E' to ground (battery -ve)
'LG' to warning lamp and relay
    'L' to warning light relay
'S' from bettery +ve to regulator in alternator

    Note 4JB1-T could be different.
