    noise insulation idea

I just finished making a noise barrier for the trans tunnel gear stick hole.

I replaced the original foam block with 4 x 12mm thick pieces of noise insulation laminated together. I cut access holes just large enough for the gear/transfer lever to move freely. Finally I slipped a piece of noise insulation over the top of each lever so it covers both access holes completely but moves with the lever.

It made quite a big improvement to noise levels. I can now hear the indicator 'tick' when activated. I didn't know it did that before now.

I agree, i've never heard my indicator tick. I just blew an exhaust gasket in the BD1 so the poor old blinker never had a chance. She sounds like an old fergie tractor at the moment!

if you have a winged sump you have to route the 3" pipe work ( you doint have that ) a different way, more like an out and around rather than under

    Thats where I dont understand....

I thought the guy said that now he has put noise reduction in he can now hear the tick you hear when putting on the indicator...

to which you guys said I dont have a tick....

and I asked why as my defenders tick so why is an isuzu different...I dont see why you said I dont have a winged sump had anything to do with it?

Or are you saying that you guys have put a bigger exhaust in and there for cant hear the ticking of the indicator?
