A couple of weeks ago ( the day before a long trip ) the car wouldn't start and I found that the "bag" wasnt working:mad:. The relay was fine so I gave up and disconnected the cable so I could start it, and just used a bit of rope from the lever out through the bonnet and in through the door to stop it
When I got back I pulled the bag apart and found a lot of rust on the outside of the motor casing ( not terminal though) , and that the armature had frozen in the rear bush/bearing. After cleaning up the shaft end, the bush and assempling with a bit of gease, a generous squirt with WD40 to slow the rust on the casing, and replaced the 10A fuse, it now operates the fuel shutoff much faster than it used to :p
After 23 years all it needed was a bit of a service ;)
Bruce.
