    Turboglide kit

Has anyone out there had any experience with the turbo glide kit? I've heard its a great kit and I'd like to get some advice.
    Questions I have...
    1. Is this kit a good way to go?
    2. Any tips or traps for the install.
    3. Should the exhaust go inside or outside the rail?

    Cheers

I have a manifold from turboglide, which can be found cheaper via ISUZU direct, as Isuzurover has and the turbo he recommends, I'm more than happy, although I run it @ 17psi and fair fuelled up with an intercooler, its a baby unit, has plenty of torque and happily tows some insane weights, with decent power and fuel economy

My 120" has one. Is a neat installation. The fuel was not set up spot on on mine and the exhaust would be better inside the rail as gets in the way of oversize tyres and easy to damage off road
If you are starting over an intercooler may be a consideration as well.

It's a factory Isuzu manifold, the turbo flange is T3.
So you can pick one of the plethoria of T3 flanged turbos and they'll bolt on or you can ask me for an adapter drawing to fit a T25 or T28 turbo onto the housing (Ben, Isuzurover used my adapter design).

There are a whole range of turbos that'll work, which one you pick will depend on what your goals are and what you can find locally.

Are you talking about the $4650 one they have on their site? I imagine you would be able to sort one using quality parts for a bit less than that.. but I could well be wrong.. as I've only really just started looking.

Yes i think you could do it for alot less then that
We have been gathering bits to do it for a while now, we have a turbo off a td5 which we are going to try use i think it was $250 off fleabay, (Dranged has a td5 turbo on his i think)
We have a manifold which most likely won't fit the td5 turbo
And an isuzu turbo waterpump which we also got off ebay.
Need alot more than that but still havn't spent over $500

Are you using the turbo water pump for the turbo water jacket?
I run my turbo without the water jacket connected, it survives fine. IMO the water jackets are a legacy of the same turbo core being used on petrol engines and aren't necessary on a diesel provided you don't shut them down red hot.

I also didn't connect the water on mine.

The following is from the FAQ's on the Turboglide web site..........FAQ's

    Q. Why do we not recommend water cooling on turbos when used in diesel application?

    A. Due to the low operating temp of a turbo in a diesel engine caused by far less heat produced by the combustion process of diesel in relation to its petrol cousins it is not necessary. Exhaust gas temperatures in cruise mode measured at rear of turbo will range from 250°-400°Celcius as compared to its petrol cousin of temps ranging from about 700°-900°Celcius. Failure or loss of water from the engines cooling system, hooked up to the turbocharger results in no damage to turbo but severe overheating and major engine damage. On inspection of large factory turbocharged engines, found in semi-trailers, bulldozers and earthmoving equipment, water cooled turbos will not be found. So you can run a turbo on a diesel, that is a turbo designed to be water cooled, without any water cooling? Does it need to be oil cooled if not water cooled?
