Yup. The 'bulb' is only on one side (i think).

Yea, just winged one side
Mmmm, kinda looks like a dulux rebuild![]()
more like a zinc it rebuild![]()
That's just awful.
Is the whole engine covered in exhaust paint or is the painted exhaust going to gas everyone the first time it's run?

This is his unpainted engine listing some time ago as a normal auction.
ISUZU DIESEL ENGINE - eBay, Parts, Accessories, Trucks, Commercial Vehicles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 04-May-09 18:02:36 AEST)
From memory it reached ~ $500 mark with 2 days to go when it got canned.
Painting the ENTIRE engine to attract a higher price... Genious!!!![]()

Are you sure that's the same engine "pre-paint job"? Those pictures in your link look the engine look (externally) far better than I remember from the pre-paint job advert...
I remember that seller having a 4BD1 that was covered virtually all over in what looked like surface rust. It looked like it had been pulled out of the sea! That advert got pulled and then shortly later the seller had an advert for an engine painted grey all over!
Either way, it's been for sale for a long time now, I wonder if he has receipts for the parts used to recondition the motor?
Jon
Good point, and no, I'm not sure its the same engine. He first advertised the painted one about 2 weeks after pulling the non-painted one off eBay, and given the matching (rebuilt) description, I assumed they're one and the same...
... I haven't seen his rusty lump listing, but either way I'd stay well clear of the seller as well as the engine.
EDIT: Just checked both listings and it is definately a different engine. The first one had a spin-on fuel filter while this one is a bolt-through type.

I tried to find the "rusty" engine listing which I'm pretty sure is now this painted one, but it doesn't come up in an Ebay search of completed listings anymore... Oh well, it looks like most people are being sensible and staying clear of this engine anyway!
Long time no see, how's the 120 going Bojan?
Cheers,
Jon
Yeah, has been a while. Been watching the Harvey trip posts with envy, looks like you guys had fun.![]()
The 120's progress is slow but slowly. Nearly peak of the rowing season, so between work and rowing, very little time to work on the car. I'll try to put up an update on the original thread in the next few days, but it's only about 60% done. Turbo is on, air filter box modded, sump swapped, dipstick adjusted, turbo oil feed is in and I can't remember what else. I got a few 4BD1-T bits I'm yet to put on / mod to fit (spin on fuel filter, dual oil filter, turbo dipstick). Currently fiddling with intercooler routing. The front end needs a bit of modding to fit, mainly around the headlights for piping access, & front panel extended forward to fit the IC.
Also have to fabricate / weld up a few custom bits I need for the conversion and finish relocating the front end, wiper fluid bottle & pump, power steering reservoir, fitting 4 bolt steering box etc etc. So fun and games. I'm finding a million little maintenance tasks to do on the way "while I have the opportunity" (replacing seals, soundproofing the firewall / engine bay, cleaning up / respraying the front end of the chassis etc). I've taken plenty of pics along the way and will put up on the original thread when I get to it.
Appologies for the hijack by the way.
Cheers
Bojan
