    Isuzu 6BB1 info required.

Not really an Isuzu Landy question, but I have a an ex-military 4X4 with an Isuzu 6BB1 and Isuzu BB 5 speed transmission.

    Can anyone tell me:
    1. Where to look to find the engine number?
    2. The specifications of engine and transmission.
    3. What model Isuzu's the combination would have come from?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks Phoenix

Now all I have to do is either get a workshop manual for one of those models or play orangutan and hang upside down in various locations with a wire brush and torch attempting to find the engine number.

The 6BB1 is a 6 cyl version of the 4BB1 and displaces 5.4 litres.

Most parts (injectors, pistons, bearings, etc...) should be interchangeable with the 4BB1.

The engine number should be on the passenger side towards the front.

So my guess is that a GTHO will beat me off the mark over the standing quarter mile!

My Mk3 International may still have to shed about 4 ton and have better aerodynamics than a 2 story house.

If its Isuzu, the model is cast into the LH side of the block and the engine number will usually be on LH block leg and should be stamped into the top.

As for engine info, I do have some engine specs for it.

    Cheers

    Andrew.

    Thanks Andrew

That's good info as the age of the engine (1972 >) should not cause any problems with the RTA's allowance of "period engine replacements" with Hysteric Conditional Rego!

My brothers Hitach UH063 has one. Hour meter stopped at 8,000hrs long before he got it, still runs smooth and sweet.
