    How heavy motor and gearbox

Thinking of buying a 750 kilo ratchet style chain block to lift our 3.9 Izusu and gearbox out of series 3 Landy into our 1990 RR. How heavy is Izuzu motor with the gearbox? do we need heavier chain block? Recently lifted Subaru motor swap with a 44 gal drun, with rim and tyre and besser block on it, and a big pipe for a long lever, but realise we need more for the Isuzu. So is the 750 kilo sufficient. We may need to leanghen the chain.

Isuzu book says the engine (4BD1-T) weighs in at 327kgs (dry) and I think the concensus on the box is 60-70kgs....add another few kgs for mum and I'd say a 750kg job would do it nicely.

A load leveller would also make things easier given the weight distribution as it pops out of the guts of your vehicle.

Ooops. the estimated weight of the box was for an Isuzu M series, not the LT-95.

750kg will be plenty. 500kg (SWL) would likely be fine too.

I had my engine crane set to the 500kg lift point and plucked the engine and box out in one it was fine. It is a bit of a juggle to get both out at once though, with the front grill, radiator, and the cross member gone the engine was lifted but at some stage you need to let the gearbox hang very close to the floor so the linkages can get past the bulkhead.

750kgs sounds plenty, but there are plenty of rated 1 tonne chainblocks out there for $99 - I recently got mine from Glenfords. At that price it might be an idea to get one of the 1 tonners to cover future uses as well?

I was tendering for a 750 Kilo one at tender center, which is why I did ask that question. If we buy new it will probably be the one ton one.
