Thread: Coolant Hose (bypass pump-thermo)

The hose I use had a mini part number. I kid you not.
Repco had one on their shelf and it fit perfectly.

However, if you run a full-flow heater system then that hose should be blocked off.

thanks Dougal - do you have the part # for that mini hose?

I have installed a separate tap in the heater system (to turn it fully off in summer) so I still need the bypass

The hose was Mackey, made in Aussie.

.......can anyone confirm ?

An old LR Perentie (Sept 1983) published part # of Isuzu origin I have is 5137190940. Most likely supercedes to your #

I recently (5 months ago) bought one as a spare before a big trip and found out that there are many different bypass hoses for the 4BD1! The parts guy brought one out and it was tiny - the one on mine is quite large about 25mm ID.

It all depends what the 3 identifying suffix letters after 4BD1 are for your engine. If it's a factory built 110 4BD1 then it'll be a 4BD1 RBG and you need to specify this to the parts dept. The industrial engine parts book my local Isuzu dealer has colums across the top with all different combinations of engine suffixes - it's amazing how many vaients of the 4BD1 were produced, some found there way into Land Rovers, some into Hitachi forklifts, obviously the Isuzu trucks and also the marine derivatives, etc. All sorts of things are affected like thermostat housing, bypass hose, fuel filters, oil filter housing, and I would have though other things like cam, and maybe injection pump?

These last 3 letters aren't stamped anywhere on the engine itself, but can be determined from the engine number by Isuzu, or just knowing that the 'RBG' is what was supplied to LR.

Anyway, if your's is a genuine factory Isuzu County the part number should be the same as mine: 8941462970, cost me $13.27 + GST and a bit of air freight to get it over to WA.
