    Split Fuel Line

    Hi Guys,

Yesterday in Mudgee after a beautiful trip up and around the Capertee Valley I noticed a strong diesel smell.... a quick look around and it seems to be of the two just behind the injector pump leaking all over the place. I think it is only one of then.. the return one maybe as it is still running fine

Are there any other fuel hoses I should replace at the same time? Any brand / type of hose which is best / better?

Also, any tips on bleeding it after its done?

    Cheers,

As far as I know these are the only two, joining the steel pipe from the pump and the nylong pipe going to the tank. I simply bought a length of the appropriate size (can't remember it) from Repco and fitted it.

Bleeding is the same as when you run out of fuel - unscrew the hand pump on the side of the injection pump, and pump until it feels right - if lacking experience, loosen the highest joint on the filter and pump untl no air comes through. Then screw the hand pump down.

Thanks JD, swapped them over in my lunch brake

Interestingly enough, there does not seem to be any damage at all to the hoses, so I'm hoping there isnt another leak elsewhere..

is there anything special between the nylon pipe and the metal sleeve? mine are just slid in there... (maybe this is the leak?)

Bleeding was easy, just kept pumping until it felt more firm.. which seemed to work - started first go (as always) and ran well for 30 seconds or so.

Had the same thing happen to me just after I picked up the 120 last year - the hose was split "horizontally" and the damage would only show when twisted.

Swapped it over in the Supercheap carpark and all was good - didn't even need to prime the pump, it started first go.

I had exactly that happen at christmas last year.
Same horizontal split which was impossible to see on inspection. Being the delivery side it was a perfect seal capable of keeping all diesel in (not even a wet mark) while letting copious amounts of air in.

The real kicker, repco didn't have any line that size. I was 10 minutes away from installing a piece of weed-spray hose when I found a hose-doctor calling into his (closed) workshop.

    haha that's hilarious.

I got a meter of the stuff (for a whopping $6) to keep in the spares box for next time
