    Considering dust vortexes, what would you think about mounting one of these on the back door wjhere the tyre normally goes?

    Just a point on the cooling capacity of these things and matching up the components.
    The 16,000 BTU/HR of the R6100 unit converts to 4.7kw. So that unit is about the same capacity as a stock AC compressor on a rover V8 or truck 4BD1/T.
    If you go bigger in the evaporator side unit you'd need to upgrade the AC compressor from stock to make the most from it.

    A DKS25 AC compressor (Zexel/Diesel Kiki/Valeo similar to what most of us would have) and Sanden SD709 (std LR and RR fitment) is rated at about 150cc per revolution which is about 6kw of cooling capacity at a bit over 2000rpm compressor speed:
