it doesnt use any fluids and no sign of oil and water mixing..

never goes above 90 deg on the gauge

no misses, no plumes of smoke blue or black and runs like a trooper other than the noise...

it really sounds like it is in/on/around one cylinder going by the frequency but the trouble is getting it do do it when you are in a position to listen too it..

will disconnect the fan and see if i can induce 80+ deg while stationary this weekend hopefully..

That reminds me - the only strange noise I ever had was the fan hitting the front pulley...

frequencys and type of noise is wrong for it to be fan into pully.

When it first started to rear its head about what 8-9 months ago now it was an occasional noise that was difficult to reproduce but it sounded like the starting of gudgeon or crank knock. Crank endfloat was also considered.

Might even get lucky and it will turn out to be the pressure plate has dropped a finger.

    gearbox
    motor
    lightswitch

in a just over a month....

aint game to ask what next......

oil pressure is very good at all rev ranges

    Hi Inc,

Hope everything is now sorted for you, but if noise is still there; check that the air filter housing bracket / securing straps are OK - sounds like it could be the air filter canister rattling against the rocker cover to me.

Common on the Isuzu for this to break - check it at idle and see if it's touching.

I second that diagnosis Jon. It is a common thing for the angled air cleaner brackets to crack and break especially where they bolt onto the back 0f the block and this will give that sort of noise. Definitely worth removing the air cleaner cannister and checking the brackets. I threw my old ones and made a new set out of heavy angle iron and braced it both ways - no problems now....Brian
