Thread: Can anyone recommend Terrafirma TF122LT extreme travel shocks?

I have been using these and they are impressive at standard length. They are huge and I didn't believe they would fit at first.

Replaced dual Dobinsons and very happy.

I removed roll bar with figment of LR tank.

I carry timber on the roof and wanted to control body roll.

They are comfortable with and without a load and much better than Bils on the front.

I've got the OME equivalent which is from the front of a 4" lifted 80 series landcruiser. I like a harder ride than most so it suits me perfectly. Not sure if they are the same dampening or not but the length is exactly the same.

Haven't had a problem but will probably be running Amada Extreme next (also very similar lengths) for the purpose of adjustability.

Be sure to get extended brake lines, higher quality A frame ball joint, cranked arms etc etc when you fit these... Otherwise you will have a bad time.

Yeah brake lines are definitely on the to do list, as are extended shock towers, however what is the point of putting cranked arms in if I only have a 2 inch lift? I'll still be achieving the same up-travel, either way eventually I plan to change the rear trailing arms to get rid of the stupid pin thing, similar to what Rovertym do, as to the front, I really don't know yet... might have to get some spare arms and pull out the oxy and have a little play however it not being a DD means that he heat isn't on.

It is possible to just run with the standard straight arms with a 2 inch lift, but your bushes will flog out earlier as theyll be working under strain at normal ride height. I had standard arms on my 4" lifted rrc with no real issues besides incredible bush wear and bad geometry haha!

Also you may as well crank them if youre going to strengthen them anyway.

Id like to have a setup which does away with the ball joint and have something more durable instead. Heim joints are illegal and arent much better..maybe a pivoting bush? I dont know.

There is the possibility to use the same type of pivoting bush set-up as on the rear of a D2 at the chassis end, with completely custom arms. For now however I think I will crank a set of rears and run standard fronts with my holey bushes, might have to get some flexy chassis end bushes, I'll see once the shocks get here, I have to make all new mounting hardware for them aswell, so It will be a laborious process!

I've got them, never had a problem. Just be aware that they offer huge travel, sometimes the dislocation cones fail to pick up the springs. I'd recommend cranked trailing arms (these are a must I think) Terrafirma also make a upper shock mount to suit. I also fitted +2" braided brake lines.
