Spot on. A 1919 Turcat-Mery, and a very special one that has a 9 litre x 6 cylinder Lorraine-Dietrich aircraft engine. Built for a French duke and declared a "national treasure". It was clandestinely shifted to Holland and exported to a US Collector who has to return it to France. Stated to have had almost no use for 86 years and is absolutely original.
Here's a sexy little devil...
VW?
hint... same country... some even argue the same car...;)
Slotted VW-type wheels and positive camber at rear suggest it's based on an early Porsche (356?).
Stephen.
getting closer... nearly there! (a 356 was a civilian car...;))
Correctomundo!
It is a 1953 Porsche 597 Jagdwagen (roughly translated as "hunting car") and was a light military vehicle, designed to cover approximately the same remit as the Jeep, Kübelwagen and Land-Rover.
