    My first BIG job

    Hey all,
    I'm just a little bit excited, as my one man band's first serious product is ready to be delivered.
    It's a quick hitch and 4 in 1 bucket for a 20 tonne wheeled loader...










    (there's a few changes since the two screenshots were made)

    Sitting on a dock in China, final approval granted, to be shipped next week. I usually design models of heavy things, not the actual heavy things!

    Two questions. (1) Why China? There are any number of firms in Oz already making buckets and adaptors like that quick hitch.

    (2) Why a 4 in 1? Not normal to use a 4 in 1 on such a big machine. 4 in 1 buckets are a light utility finishing tool and not meant for heavy digging or break out.

    G'day Brian,
    1. It worked out around $6000 cheaper to have me design it and the Chinese build and ship it, than to get it off the shelf locally. Also couldn't find a suitable second hand one from the yards in Sydney or Melbourne.
    2. Its purpose is lifting and shifting rubbish at a landfill site, so not as heavy work as excavating. Already have dirt buckets and a few other attachments to suit this quick hitch.

    Looks very neat. Cool.

    We only have ourselfes to blame when going off shore as we(Australia) loves to strike and get wage increases even as the economy is crippled.

    Put it out to tender and best man/country wins.

    Nice - what grade of steel is that?

    I have come across a number of manufacturing companies recenly who get all their custom tooling made for them in China.

    Some of the money stayed in this country as it went in my pocket! Then again I paid a license for the CAD program (USA) on a computer manufactured overseas whilst eating imported chocolate and on it goes.

    Hmmm grade of steel is an alloy of old holdens and fords. I don't know what spec they actually used. Lets just call it 'mild steel'

    The whole package weighs ~2.6 tonnes, might need to turbo the old County to push that uphill
