Ummmmmmmmm, yup.

Misses is a hairdresser, she gave me a shave with the cutthroat one day.

I'll let that sink in while I mention that it was the best shave I've ever had, and slightly more of an adrenaline rush than skydiving.

I've got a u-beaut cordless razor. Good battery life and gives a good shave. Unfortunately I have a heavy stubble and the cost of replacing blades every 2nd month is prohibitive, so it sits there all alone while I drop back to using disposable razors. I can get 2-3 days out of these and they are cheap. Jim

I'm not really interested in shaving as an art, or a passion, or anything like that. In the same manner I don't look at showering as a luxurious indulging excercise, nor brushing my teeth, combing my hair or any other morning ablution. I'd much rather spend 30secs doing the job with my Phillishave and spend the extra 10 minutes curled up in a very cosy bed. Bed, now thats good use of my time.

There's few things nicer than a nice, un-rushed PROPER shave with a safety razor or straight razor. One of life's true indulgences; and inexpensive at that.

Can't disagree with that. I've had it done a few times in various countries, and it is very much a luxury to relax and pamper. I remember having it done in Vietnam, and with a hair wash, haircut, head, neck, shoulder and back massage it was something ridiculous like $3. However I did refuse the 'ear cleaning with a metal implement' service.

I wafted out of that shop on a cloud I tell you.

However, the standard daily routine is a little more perfunctory. 2 mins scraping around with a cartridge type razor whilst in the shower is all my poor old mug gets.

Was given a couple of cutthroats today, that were found in a damp corner of a shed somewhere.

Boxes were completely rotted away.

One seems to be fairly modern. Tang is stamped "Made in Germany - Swedish Alloy Steel". Blade seems to be laser etched, but too much water has gotten to it, and most of the name has been eaten away, with some nasty pitting. Looks like it might be a lost cause.

The other is tang stamped as "Bengall" and "Cadmann & Sons - Sheffield England", and has a very heavy square blade. A bit of rust to the tang, but the blade looks like it will polish up nicely.
