    Voyager still going at 35

Who would have believed in 1977, that the Voyager satellites would still be sending back useful data in 2013? There will be some information about it on Catalyst tonight at 8pm on ABC1.

Buried deep in amongst my files...is a NASA publication regarding proceedures and standards in wiring, connectors, soldering etc. Made interesting reading... especially between the lines, where 'competance' and 'skill' etc, are (obviously) assumed...

Even fundementals of 'dress' in a wiring loom have been diminished and forgotten with the advent of harness tape... and zip-ties.
    - It is the little things that determine whether a solder joint is going to perform perfectly for xxx years... or be caused to fail before time.

Yes, and they did it with a certain pride in their workmanship, - can't imagine why...

I was just reading this article on the BBC news website BBC News - Voyager surfs Solar System's edge

Apparently, Voyager is about to cross into inter stellar space, the first man made item to ever do so. Now 18.5 billion Kms from earth, and expected to have the power to carry on well into the next decade.

I watched the Catalyst episode on iView. Always been impressed by Voyager though! They were saying on Catalyst it's about to leave our Solar System. From that far out, our sun would appear the same brightness as a star in the sky to us. Amazing.

As a side note (and not wanting to get into debate!!), it's this kind of thing that makes me so frustrated that we have wars about anything, let alone religion and other issues that can only be described as petty in comparison to the rest of the universe. /end side note.

You do realise don't you, that having sent that message to Voyager, you now have to wait 34 hours for the response to get back to you.

And why did you have to swear in your message too?
