Hope the ol' woman can back the trailer good :D:p
Theres also a spare inlet & exhaust manifold there plus the gasket for it.Also theres a couple of rear main seals NEW & front seals..Oh yeah you'll need your thurmastat housing i did'nt have one , cant find the one that came on it..theres the mesh exhaust gaskets theres a heap there i dont need.I'll have everything out ready anyway for use.Plus if i find anything else i'll throw them in aswell..DO YOU NEED TO BORROW A HOLDEN 6 BOOK for all the setting.Timing & all that & ya spark plug leads.OH yeah ya need your fuel pump i broke the original.the book has all the torque settings to for the fly wheel bolts..
If you have a look at the Harry thread you'll see whats all new in the engine..all new seals Gaskets.Ring Barrings ROD bolts.all major stuff is new ..It has'nt even been run yet..Same as the gearbox.:D
thanks heaps jason. I think I will borrow that book. do you want me to get those bolts/studs tonight or can they wait for a few weeks?
So i think what i might do is take that engine out and pull the bits off i need for the new engine put it together and try and run it for a bit before putting it back in. what do you think?
Um the bolts i kinda took em out of the box i have here already..:D
Just use the ones use have for it when use need to fit the box..
You will have to put the engine back in to run it..I squirt oil in the plug hole regulary to keep it from seizing up.So may blow smoke on first run.. to run it in just drive it normal for a bit a day then give it a bit then after a week give it to it.Should only take use a day & a half ish to pull old one out get the bit & put em on the new engine & get it all back in..The book i have is for a BLUE holden 202 but the settings are the same..i'll get it out tonight for you..I have other holden books but they are older ones.
I already have a tension wrench i dont think there is anything else i will need. it is alll just nuts and bolts from there on out isnt? how hard will it be to get the bolts/nuts undone where the clutch connects to the gearbox?
Clutch bolts are'nt hard there half inch or 13mm.
The flywheel bolts are tight ther 5 eiths or 15mm.Breaker bar will get em.But it will still be fun.Jam a bit of timber threw the starter hole.
Other then that its pretty striaght forward. Before you start undoing everything but some timber blocks under the gearbox bellhousing , i usualy make them a tight fit that way the box front does'nt drop down to the Xmember. The hardest bit will be when you put the new engine back in lining it all up, the clutch & gearbox main shaft.IF you have an old box in bits use the main shaft out of it to line it all up when you bolt the clutch back on.If not use a bit off a broom handle about 5 inches long..
I also rebuilt the alternator on the engine but have'nt tested it at all..
