U15, 10/20 all Greek to me!

The numbers are prawns per pound. So the smaller the number the larger the prawns. U means under (less than). So U10 size prawns are <10 per pound, so likely 5-6" long prawns.

This shows U8 Tigers and 10/15 Endeavours next to a very large lamb chop.

U15 means 15 or less per kg, basically its the size of the prawn....

If you compare prices with the shops you need to ask how many prawns to the kg

Pretty sure my memory serves me right

Close, but is less than 15 per POUND not per kilo.

    Gday Gary,

All prawns no mater where you buy them should be labelled with a size, and that size is the amount of prawns per pound, this is standard across all species.
    So,
u/10 is 10 or less so are a large size
21/30 are a lot smaller because it takes more prawns to a pound of weight.

If you compare the prices I quote with your local supplier or shop, make sure you find out the count per pound, not just large , medium or small.

Depends on what market you sell into depends on how you size prawns, but mainly in Australia you will have,
    u/10
    u/15
    10/20
    21/30
    Oversea's markets demand fine grading
    u/6, 6/8 , 9/12 , 13/15 , 16/20.

Don't panick if you see those sizes as they are correct, they are just mainly prawns that were packed for a certain market and for some reason they have been sold locally.

    Anymore questions just ask.

    Cheers Ean

Pound, Kilo, Bushell, I don't care! just as long as I can get my hands on them yummy offerings!

Weeds, I am good for a few boxes when you start taking orders.

Ean, I must say the bugs went down a treat last year, more so then the prawns in my house! I'd keen on some mediums as well if you could include them. Good for curries.

And probably better bait as well. You wouldn't want to eat the bait prawns that I have recently bought...

Last Friday finished the last of the prawns, still good, but showing their age just a bit. The bugs had long gone...

    Cheers

I am currently in PNG so I have the slowest internet on the planet so i haven't been able to read all threads. Is there anyone organising an order for melbourne as i will be there for Christmas. Tick me up for a box. I will check in on the thread when I get back next Wednesday. How much is a box? I might even get two. I will be in Melbourne from mid December. Cheers.
