Thanks for the reply. When you fit it up would you be able to let us know how it drives? And what you think of it? Would be good to get a different view on it. I'm this close to buying onetd5INSIDE Hybrid Turbo release Just waiting on Jose for a reply to my questions.

    Cheers

For me the deciding factor would be transmission, if manual => VNT, if auto, I'd consider the inside unit as it certainly seems good on paper (difference being that the auto will maintain boost).

Yeah mine is an auto so all good. Although it might be due for a rebuild soon me thinkstd5INSIDE Hybrid Turbo release The 2 different turbo graphs seem to make Max torque by 2700 rpm. I'd be happy with that if that was the case.

I will post on how it performs , i only have a stage 1 tune with egr removed and full custom exhaust 2.5 inch at the moment . I will be fitting a new allisport intercooler aswell. Should get my 130 up and moving . At the same time im going to fit a 1.2 transfer case that should also increase the driveability .

A comparison between an hybrid and a VNT is not fair at all...starting with price range, wich is almost doble Nevertheless, the bolt on VNT turbo units - Turbotechnics - wich are being made since a few years back uses some "old" turbo technology ( it has an OEM td5 admission housing, 56mm base compressor with 41.30 entry... its an unit very similar/if not the same to the 270cdi Mercedes Benz...from 2002) so maybe these new hybrid turbos with mfs compressor billet are not far from that particular VNT performance... I have never seen a a dyno chart from that VNT in particular ( in a 4x4 dyno with centre difflock on). I've made some development regarding ecu remap to suit those turbos, but never had one fitted to my car @ the dyno. There are new and much more advanced VNTs right now wich are a lot more efficient at lower revs, we have been testing a td5 with a tdx17xx and that is amazing... we had very good dyno results.

Here is a comparison between stock turbo with stage 3 remap and hybrid turbo:

    Stock turbo

    Hybrid turbo

It has very good torque overall, since low rpm. 1800rpm you get 225NM from stock turbo and 250nm from hybrid. At arround 2200rpm there's already a big big diference 375nm from stock turbo and 425 with the hybrid.

I've got a few questions about the new turbo set up. The figures that you had posted, what sort of modifications have those engines had done?
What sort of figures could I expect from my motor? Currently has a stage 2 remap from you , Bigger intercooler, EGR delete, Silencer delete, and 20 pounds of boost.

Can I expect a good increase in power and torque down low? Something to suit say, towing a car trailer around. Could I expect fuel economy to change?
Will turbo lag be decreased? Sorry for all the questions but I need to know these sorts of things before I may purchase one. It may also help other members on here as well when they read this thread. Look forward to hearing from you. Nice work you do by the way.

    Cheers

No need to say sorry about questions Its very legit and we do thank to anyone who has questions regarding this - it means this is causing interest

Engines have the usual mods, since they were already running st3 remapp with stock turbo...

    Big Intercooler
    Egr delete
    Silicon hoses
Stock straight through exausth wich ends in the middle of the car with stock silencer ( the one from the rear section)

Nothing was changed inside the engine.

In one of them the air filter box is stock with KN filter... In the other one we use a KN apolo air filter :

As you can see from the previous posts with dino charts there is gains in terms of power/torque from lower revs in comparison with stock turbo... its not a last generation VNT turbo, but the mfs compressor billet makes the turbo spool very good from start! To be honest, did not make any fuel consumption analysis...was a bit excited with powaaaaaaaa I believe with same driving style should not go up, but I'll drive my 90 gently 2 or 3 tanks of fuel to see if I can get to a conclusion :

Thank you all for your support

    Regards

    Wizard

Are you running stock exhaust manifolds, have you modified the bolts and what exhaust temps were they getting on the dyno.

Stock exausths open between exits... 8 of the 10 holes in the manifold are a bit larger... That's just it!

We got arround 720?C on the dyno, running the KN Appolo and arround 750 with stock airbox filter.

Interesting about the k&n filter, I have a appolo in the shed I had on a supercharged 3.9 disco, might have to get some piping and bends to fit it up.
