LR will replace these under warranty.
Hi nugge t, Here it is almost as new:
Here it is now 1000kms on:
And a close up of the molten area:
Seems the problem is that the mudflap bends back into the exhaust gas stream at high speeds 100kph or so. In the UK it has been put down to towing or heavy loads, well I've not done any towing yet & other than a 13kg dog no excessive loads in the back!
LR will replace these under warranty.
I hope they do, but want one that does not flex back into the exhaust stream, so one of nudge t's stiffies may just do the job for the new one that will last longer than 1000kms. This new 90 has to last me at least the next 20 years or so, then I will probably not remember it, where am I?

SupporterHad three replaced under warranty, but warranties don't last forever. I haven't fronted LR for a replacement since warranty expired and there is an argument that the mudflap isn't fit for purpose and they should continue to replace them however what are the chance of that?
Watching to see if Nugget can come up with something.
I'm having trouble uploading the information and pictures but if you look for "melting mud flaps" in 90 110 130 Defender County section,Shatkins has a solution posted on the 23rd October 2015.
If you are thinking of making a steel guard/cover to go around the edge of the mudflap would be interested in a set. If you need a mudflap to work with i have one to lend out.

SubscriberI've just re-found this... for some reason I thought you made these for the front (which is what I have broken, hence my searching and re-finding) I know now they are for the rear but am wondering if you have any plans to fix the same issue at the other end of the truck?
