Calibre Tool Chests

My folks are looking at getting me a tool chest for my 21st, so today Dad and I hit up the shops around town that stocked such items.
The ones that struck us were the Calibre tool chests, stocked at SCA.
I'm more than familiar with the 'quality' of SCA items, but to my untrained eye and hands, the Calibre items seemed to look and feel like excellent items. The action of the draws and lids felt smooth and solid, much better than both the Kincrome and even Sidchrome items, which felt much flimsier.
Given the price for the top section was $179 and the price for the bottom cabinet was mid $300s, I could by both for less than half the corresponding Kincrome items.
Has anyone had experiences with Calibre items? I've only found one or two references to them on here before, although they seemed to be positive.

If you are intending buying it as a "tool of the trade" forget it,buy a decent bit of gear.
However,if its for your own use and wont get knocked around in workshops and taken out to site like spannermen do it wont be a problem.

If you're going to cart it 'round on or in a vehicle, make sure the warrantee allows for such things. I've seen many that have a label, usually hidden at the back, saying that the warrantee is voided if the tool case is carried on or in a vehicle while loaded with tools.

It's not for a trade, and it's not going to go in a vehicle

Will be set up in the shed, and I'm not into knocking things about so it should be fine.
Have noticed the sticker about voiding the warranty if used in a vehicle.

I have one on the bottom of a stack of three. I use it for the heavy greasy fitter's tools, big spanners, 3/4 drive socket set, 1/2" socket set, and socket accessories. The top one is a Proto I have had for about 40 years and the middle one is from KC Tools. All are well made. The Calibre seems a quite good piece of kit. The Proto is 6 drawers plus a top compartment, the KC is 3 drawers, and the Calibre is 2 deep drawers. Still not enough space for everything. These are just for the fitter and mechanic tools. I bought an Aldi "special" a couple of years ago.. it's "red" in colour so that was a good start

... it is a 7 drawer trolley on wheels. I've packed it with all sorts of stuff --hammers, socket sets, spanners. The drawers roll very smoothly and it was properly lined. I bought a couple of drawer stacks to go on top. It sits "inside" (the house that is!!) and has done sterling service. I think they (Aldi) sell them around each October... After all, it's simply a steel cabinet to hold stuff...it doesn't have to travel to a site...just sits there but is often opened several times a day ...

mind you... if you want to go " fancy" have you seen the $2,999 Kincrome "Ultima" at Bunnings (tools extra) with the built-in TV, fridge and stereo...

...father-son bonding and all that
