Diabolical things they are!
We have a really old bugga of a machine at the shed, I reckon even older than most folks on here, with a screw adjuster that love to chew fingers up at a rate of knots to boot.
Anyhow, I was tasked with getting it back up and running, which needed a fair bit of work. Stupid thing has Whitworth type fixtures, and of course we have exactly zero Whitworth tools at the shed.
So next best thing ... maybe the 14mm open ender.
I thought I had the blades all done up right, and I reckon I got a score of two out of three ... generally I'd be happy with such a reasonable score. 66.6667% score is fine for a Mr Average such as myself.
BUT! not in planer/thicknesser land.
One of the blades tried to land on the moon, I at least had the foresight to test it with the top down. Extremely sturdy cast iron stuff. Blade bounced around madly for a sec and snapped a couple of important cast iron doodads and thingamejigs.
And it was only then that I understood that a 100% success rate is required, and that 66.66667% = FAIL!
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
