Aussie Swag Camper with Defender hubs

Has anyone successfully put land rover hubs on to and Aussie swag camper trailer yet?

would like to do this before next year...however I thought I might as well ask first.

These are different to D2 hubs huh...

I have a trailer guy coming around on Wednesday morning to talk to him about changing to D2 hubs. Do you know the details of the def hubs and I can ask him.

    PCD and stud size?

Yes I have - in 2003 - but they were D2 hubs. The camper is still in the family, based in Brisbane western subs. If anyone is considering D2 alloy wheels onto a trailer - don't bother - you have to bastardise the wheels, we have still not noticed any problems with them on the trailer but they are horrible on the car. So your car wheels won't fit the trailer and the trailer wheels are not aligned properly on the car - so what's the point??? And you need to use the small bearings... D2 steel wheels are a different story.

As mentioned D1, RRC, Def. are different to D2 and later. Most component manufacturers will have a standard listing for the "older" landRover hubs. Aussie swag use AL-KO running gear and they do have a listing for these hubs. NOTE; trailer hubs will have 5/8 studs, and the factory LR wheel nuts will be M16, if you're using steel wheels than you can use the nuts that come with the hubs.

If you are supplying the wheels I suggest you speak to the guys at Aussie Sway well in advance, when I did in 2003, I had to do all the leg work - essentially I had to give AL-KO completed hubs (they were commodore with 100Landcruiser M14 studs - D2 studs were not available). The response from Aussie Swag and AL-KO was "It can't be done". I'm not sure how the Def alloys would go for center clearance.

Just last week I enquired about this for our Aussie Swag Lou. As it already has electric brakes with Land Cruiser six stud drums, all I needed was a replacement pair of drums with the "old" Land Rover stud pattern.

    How much?? $150 each side!!!

Needless to say, I didn't buy them.

How ever, I do have a plan "B".

who was that through larry? I would pay the 300 I'm desperate to get the tyres changed over on the trailer as the trailer really sits bum high because the tyres on it are too tall...we too have the cruiser 6 stud wheels on..

do you know whether a defender alloy would fit over the drum?

Then you need to ensure that the offset of your LR wheels is the same as the wheels supplied, or you will need to replace the axle as well.

The supplier I use in BNE has a list for LANDROVER 10" HUB DRUM S/L - $72 +GST each.

What bearings are on the trailer now?
