how thick is the metal you are trying to weld what number rod are you useing are they general purpose rods and what amps do you have the welder at
thanks to all for their input, thought i should post up some pics, the welding is not the best but enjoyed working on it. seems to hold my weight when i stand on it so should be okay for lighter jerry cans etc. cheers
