    "Self-sufficient, Reliable and Super-comfortable 4x4"

This is the flagship of our range and is a culmination of years of research and planning. We wanted to create a vehicle that was self-sufficient, reliable and above all else capable of accessing off the road 4x4 type country.

First priority was as always, the suspension, which meant turning rough commercial truck suspension into a system with long travel 4x4 capabilities, corrugation road proof, low maintenance, super comfortable ride. This was achieved by relocating all the spring hanger mounts, replacing all original springs with longer packs and in the case of this motor home, custom made to its particular vehicle weight. Shock absorbers are replaced with quality Koni or Powerdown and utilise double shockers per wheel to handle those corrugated outback roads for hours on end.

The rims and tyres were replaced with especially made rims (16” x 9 ½”) and as shown on the pictured vehicle, Michelin 325/85 16R XML military spec tyres. The wheelbase on the pictured vehicle is stretched out to 4000 mm to accommodate the Warrior Conqueror body, but the same body can fit a variety of 4x4 chassis including M.A.N., Mercedes Benz and Isuzu. We then set about creating the interior, which we refined many times using CAD designed drawings before we all settled on the design you see today.

The obvious problem faced by manufacturers of conventional 2WD motor homes who like to dabble in the 4WD area is trying to get an interior fit out that could stay together under the roughest conditions. We use specifically designed fibreglass formed cupboards and overheads that allowed us to fibreglass all the interior components into one solid unit, then bonded to our steel frame. The result being a luxury yacht type interior which is easy to clean, maintain and super strong.

The driver’s cockpit is like a jet airliner with an overhead console that wraps around the front over the driver’s head and is then integrated back into the overhead cupboards on each side.

The cockpit houses clusters of gauges and switches like the manual rear and front winch controls, automatic tyre pressure monitor and alarm, Marine quality circuit breaker panels, GPS monitors, reverse camera monitor, UHF radio, water tank gauges, DVD players, auto levelling gauge and switches, satellite receiver, solar digital read out etc etc.

This vehicle created a lot of challenges for us. We fully designed and built in house such things as the hydraulic spare wheel lifting system that allows the spare wheels to be lowered to the ground and retrieved, and since then a motorcycle carrier has been added to the lift, a stainless steel roof rack and ladder with recessed electric annexes on both sides, 260 litre long range fuel tank mounted in the centre of the chassis for low centre of gravity, a one off custom built bull bar, special mounts for the remote controlled front and rear 13,200 lb hydraulic winches, recycled shower waste water system, automatic hydraulic levelling system, 3Kva Honda generator on a slide, washing machine, solar panels, deep cycle batteries, two plasma TV monitors, automatic satellite positioning dish, marine remote controlled rear spotlight, Reverse cameras, three leather air suspension swivel seats, leather sofa lounge, and a very comprehensive electronic communications, visual and audio system .

The specification list on this vehicle is as long as my arm and too much to list here.

The South Australian based vehicle has just completed 36,000 klms, mainly travelling through the Central Australian desert country. The owners first comments, “The ride quality over all conditions, the comfort of the design, the 4wd ability of the vehicle and what a pleasure it was to come back to a comfortable motor home in the middle of nowhere and have a hot shower and relax in the leather captain’s chairs. The owner’s main complaint, "getting flagged down while driving along by inquisitive fellow travellers and not even been able to stop at the side of the road for a nature call without groups of people stopping and wanting to look over and photograph the vehicle".
