once upon a time yes it was legal...

not any more. unless you're a road train or b double driver.

I have seen one of those 5th wheeler units with a trailer on the back of it but Im not sure it was legal.

as a licenced and experenced 'b' double driver (in the past ) not to mention dog trailers

i have been wondering the same question lately. i think the problem would lie in the second towing hitch and the strength of the attachment as most box trailers have no chassis to speak of and therefore no real strength for the tow bar to attach.
plus if QT did allow it imagine the rules and regulations not to mention fees they would demand
for 'b' double's they have to have
at least 400HP
anti lock brakes
million dollar insurance
designated routes
length restrictions
tens of thousands of dollars rego

Never was, Dave. Not in my 70 years on this planet.

About 1979, a mate and I were in the Sunnybank hotel on Easter Thursday afternoon and saw a car with caravan attached and a boat on trailer swinging along behind in the heavy traffic heading for the Pacific Highway. Wonder how far he got? Give him 10 out of ten for trying, even if badly thought through and potentially dangerous.

Think on this, in a normal car & trailer combination, the trailer applies load to the tow ball and tows badly if insufficient weight is transferred. If you hang a second trailer on behind then the weight it applies to the rear end of the first trailer is going to try to lift the tow vehicle by the tow ball.

ok today i was out and about and i saw a local council vehicle running around and he had those traffic light things towing behind him and they had different rego. so this is one part of where i am coming from.
Other thing is i work for the sugar industry up here and you quiet often see 2 and 3 trailers behind a harvestor tractor or a ute being moved around.
(Water, Fuel, Compressor) etc.

I just wanted to know cause it makes me curious as its a pain in the but when people borrow my trailer and i need to move one from place to place i just wanted to move it not really loaded or anything but would be handy.
