    camper how heavy?

i bought a Castle Camper trailer not long back and have been out in it a couple of times now.
i am just curious as to the weight of some of the camper trailers?
mine on the rego papers says 600KG and i guesstimate with other gear 750KG all up, which the 300TDi works well but knows its there, i had imagined it would be more like towing a box trailer .
i have read a thread in the forum about a camper that weighed 1200KG and i thought that made mine look light so hence the question at the start of the thread
how much do some of these camper trailers weigh??

I had a FULLY off road soft floor one that was 990kg dry and approaching 1500kg fully laden (included 180kg liquid, 2 batteries and 2 spare tyres). The vehicle I had at the time (2.9l CRD auto transmission) managed to tow it bottom to top up the telegraph track without any issue at all.

I know you didn't ask about slide-on campers, but one of the advantages I saw in having a slide-on rather than a trailer is that my Trayon weighs about 360 kg empty.

I believe that some of those slide-ons that look like a caravan with no wheels weigh about twice that much.

    1998 300 Tdi Defender Trayback 2006 - often fitted with a Trayon slide-on camper.

Our Trak Shak is just over 1000kg loaded. The electric brakes make a big difference.

Our Defender is running the 200tDi and I've had no issue towing it anywhere (and I mean anywhere), although it can be a tad slow up decent hills.

    Cheers

    Hi

My camper says on the rego papers that it weighs 950kg but suspect it mat weigh up to 1200kg (will have to put it over the weigh bridge)

thanks so far for the replies, gee mine looks like a light one so far.
i should say mine has the water tank, kitchen, semi-off road suspension and big tool box on it (these are extras for the Castle Camper) and the tent is 13ft X 17ft.
the 300TDi goes a little slow with it on the back but then again i don't bury the right foot to far either, return around 26mpg

    JC's Rangie

At post #24, This is mine, a full body Cape York Trailer type 3. Tare is 850kg, Loaded would be a bit close to 1200 at least. Easy to tow, but steep hills behind a Tdi auto is a bit of a struggle

(behind a 4bd1 turbo in RRC is no problems at all)
