G day all.
I am in the middle of fitting a Prodigy P3 to my Disco. I have a question. There is no physical "on/off" switch on the unit and acording to the manual, the unit goes into "power save" mode after 15 min of inactivity. Will leaving the unit in "power save" mode drain the battery? Or should I simply remove the positive wire when I am not towing?. Oh, and I presume the "red" wire goes to the break light switch?.
Regards
Robbo.

The P3 is an excellent unitOnce in 'power save' there's minimal current draw. I've not had any problems with it draining the battery in normal use. For prolonged periods when not in use however, I usually store the controller out of sight in the glove box..
Red wire: Yep and DON'T forget that the BLACK wire is POSITIVEand the WHITE is NEGATIVE
there's a handy feature in one of the controller settings which provides instant viewing of battery voltage (at the controller)...if you're concerned, you could take a series of readings over a weekend if not using the vehicle and check out the voltage drain...eliminate other parasitic current draw by not setting the alarm and make sure interior lights don't come on when you open the door...
I leave my P3 connected all the time. But, if you're worried, just disconnect it.
Best Wishes,
Peter
Hi Robbo,
I have seen a few people actually fit a switch inline so they can turn the unit off for their piece of mind (just run the black wire to a dash mounted switch where you prefer & then to the unit) Again as a lot of people have noted this really isnt required.
The Red wire can be run to the brake pedal switch under the dash (red/purple trace wire) & connected there.
Cheers, Hope it all goes easier than expected for you.![]()
The colours are trailer colours. Check the wiring for a trailer (5 or 7 core), White is always earth, Red is stop lights, Blue is brakes and Black is Aux power source. Just don’t think of Automotive colour standards.
I have the P3 installed without a switch; car sits for 7-10 days without use regularly and I’ve not had a battery problem.
