    Thanks for the comments - I find that when unhitching that if there is any weight in any dimension on the pin - it locks. I might weld a bit on the handle end that will allow me to bash the pin out.

    The last time I unhitched I had to pull the pin out of the receiver on the tow bar and drive the car away - even then the tow bar hitch was reluctant to come out. Height was not the issue as I was raising and lowering the van - it was sideways load.

    Are you sure the hitch isn't siezed? The trailer side should rotate smoothly through 360 degrees.
