Garry,
A mate (John with the Territory) has one of those jockey wheels as described.
Very handy for single handedly manoeuvring a campervan into a tight location.
Highly recommended.
He also has a porta potty. Don't know much about that.
My camper has an ATM of 650kg with a fair bit of weight on the nose. The standard jockey wheel is a hard rubber affair about 10" in diameter and work OK when on concrete but just digs in on any other surface casing a bit of grief. I would like to get something else - ideally something with air in it and some sort of rachet so that when I am unable to push it I can at least get some movement through the jockey wheel - I know absolutely nothing about these things and have seen for sale at supercheap for about $100 but have no idea about them at all. Advice appreciated.
I also know nothing about Porta Poties - I have had a test sit on a couple and they would seem to be all a bit small for a fully developed dairyaire. They also seem to be a bit close to the ground making it a bit hard for old bones to get up and down with you pants down around your ankles.
Likewise I have been known to bog up a dunny or two in my time so how much paper work are you allowed with Porti Portis? Likewise when on the move where do you store them? In the van, outside the van, roofrack, car???? etc and what is the chance of having a little disgusting accident.
Thanks
Garry

The port a potties are pretty good.
Ours is a Thetford with 15l flush tank and 21l holding tank.
I have to empty it every day for 2 adults and 2-4 kids.
It is low to the ground so I built a folding ply box to lift it about 8in above the ground.
As for nasty accidents, we empty it before travelling on.

We use one on our yacht. The chemicals work pretty well but I would not like to wear it. Ours does not leak in rough seas it's a porta loo.
Our Porta Potti is great. Yes it's a bit close to the ground but the alternative??????
As to 'disgusting accidents'... they are pretty secure. We've carried ours in the back 'partially used' quite often and it's fine. Just make sure you keep the appropriate seals clean.
There is really no need to empty every day, there are 2 of us and about 4 days is fine.
As to how much paper work.... depends on you really. It is paper that will fill it faster than anything else, so minimising its use does help. If you do have occassion to use a lot of papaer, maybe don't flush it, put it in the fire instead. The chemicals do a remarkable job of breaking down all the 'other stuff' but it's still not my favourite job to do when the time comes.

Garry, I seem to have the same problems you have , I need a fairly big hole to suit my fairly big hole and I dont like having my knees up under my armpits, I bought mine from Aldi a year or so ago, it is a good 6" taller than most I have looked at has a 20lt flush tank and a large **** tank and it was only $90. I have seen the same model at Caravan and 4WD shows selling for over $140, I will get the model# and Brand name and post it up tomorrow, as it is still in the back of the Disco after our Bendethra adventure over the weekend, (not used as camped near a long drop), Regards Frank.
Regarding your jocky wheel problem Garry, as mentioned in another thread, you need to deal with the root cause of your problem - ie excessive weight on the front of your trailer. Unfortunately, the only real solution to that is to reposition the axle somewhat further forward. My father had to do this to a caravan we had many moons ago after almost being thrown off the road due to incorrect balance of the van.
The Ultimate solution to uour second problem ..................
‘The Call of Nature’
Have you ever been stuck in the middle of nowhere with no place to go?
Has this happened to you? You're at the campsite or in the middle of nowhere and suddenly nature calls. What do you do? You squeamishly go looking for a quiet spot behind a bush to do your thing. You cautiously avoid the poison oak and ivy. As you carefully squat down and try to relax a snake suddenly comes slithering through the weeds and startles you. What a mess!
Now when nature calls you can go in comfort where ever you are with the one and only Bumper Dumper®. No more looking for the right spot, no more trying to balance while squatting, and no more surprises from creepy critters. Just park your vehicle in a nice secluded spot, plug the Bumper Dumper® in to your trailer hitch receiver, and VOILA!! A portable toilet sturdy enough to hold 500 lbs. and just as comfortable as using the bathroom at home. You can even set up a privacy screen for complete comfort.
The Bumper Dumper® is great to have anywhere you go. No other portable toilet can compare to the support, stability and comfort that the Bumper Dumper® offers. The frame is made from quality steel and comes with a standard size toilet seat. It's the only portable toilet you can use your own seat on. Almost any standard size toilet seat can be mounted to the frame so you can attach a padded seat or the favorite seat of your choice. The Bumper Dumper® will last a long long time and it's light weight and so easy to use. If you have a trailer hitch receiver and travel or engage in outdoor activities where restrooms are far and few in between the Bumper Dumper® is a must have item.
Use the Bumper Dumper® when you need to go on the go.![]()
