Do you reckon this will do the job in the same order of magnitude as the manufactured ones including those with mesh? - can't recall the names, but various have been mentioned before on here. As we all know, not only looking to protect the trailer, but also the tow vehicle rear window etc.
Very interested in any comments from users generally, as we are hopefully finally about to get our caravan monstrosity delivered and will be going off bitumen. Cheers
    Gavin.
I intended using those mudflaps to make my own set of "Rock Tamers" or similar to fit to the towbar of the D4.
When I used the trailer behind the D2 it didnt have those flaps or the toolbox, the flaps are bolted to the toolbox. It was very bad for stones bouncing off the trailer and spares back onto the D2.Looking at it,its unlikekly stones will hit the front of the toolbox.Quite possibly the sides or underneath which should deflect them out away from the trailer.I do still intend getting another pair of truck mudflaps to make a stone tamer for the towbar sometime. They are cheap from truck part wholesalers, these are the short ones.
There is a smaller stone gaurd behind the axle to protect the water tank.I used 8mm rubber sheet for that.

Spent the night of the 30th Dec on Blacksmiths Beach in NSW. Was my Disco's first offroad foray, and first time for me towing anything in the sand. The little Cub is no palace, but it does the job

Here's our 13 year old Aussieswag hard floor camper in action. Still in good shape. Has a comfortable bed, durable kitchen, fridge box with Engel 40 litre fridge, AGM battery and 12/240 volt electrics and 50 litre water tank. We have 2 extra rooms to add when needed. Its not luxurious but it is functional. It conquered the OTT and lots of other places. This year it will get some maintenance including bearings and brakes, gas service and new tyres.

We'll see .... the boss women sure doesn't show much enthusiasm for camping in minus 7 degree temperatures There would be plenty of 4wds to pull us out if we got stuck either way

What? Are you planning to come in via the bog holes.
Let us know when you do. Should be entertaining.

Nah, it's the sloppy mud. The entry/exit was really churned up. I'd just sit there with one wheel on each axle skating on the top. Last time I *just* got out with tame all terrains on .... towing a 2ton+ caravan out would have been "fun" to say the least
