    I think your right Cammo.
Considering the trailer I towed across Simpson etc last year was around 1.5T and we hardly knew it was there except for dunes,
The Patriot is 960kgs dry, won't be a problem.
Did the training, handover yesterday and you see how well built it is, in every detail.
The layout and design is perfect for what we want to do.
Which is weekends and once a year 4-5 blokes in central oz.
We got the last of the removable tent models as new tent is integrated into body.
We want to remove tent, put on a Rhino platform and tie on swags for desert.
I'll set it up so Rhino Rack stays on and tent goes on top.
    Cheers Vin

Yeah so it becomes even more adaptable - sounds great! We just wanted something that had heaps of comfort and storage but was still light to tow. I said I wouldn't have a camper but 2 adults and 2 kids in the rooftop tent over any more than 3 nights is starting to test my already limited patience.

Can I ask a question? I've looked at Patriots, but the bed didn't seem real big, and I'm pretty lanky, so I imagined my feet hanging over the edge. What do you think?

    DiscoMick,
They reckon the trailer is 1.85M wide. The new model has a bed extension which folds out over the side - i dont know how long that extension is, but you can sort of get a gauge from the new model launch video

    Here we are

This is us, and so, when you see us on the road (we are a bit distinctive) come on over for a chat.

Wendy and I describe ourselves as practicing grey nomads, go away at least once a month and a decent 4 week trip during the year. We figure in about another 2 years we will be all practiced out and have things nicely sorted for the big lap. Done quite a few mods and still tinkering.

Well, we are known as down under I guess, no idea why it's rubber side up and have not been able to fix how it imports the pictures.

And this is the other end, just tilt your head, and dream of the day computers don't do this sort of thing.

Anyway, great to see all the rolling accommodation, hope to catch you on the road some day.

Even upside down that looks like a rather large van.

What length and weight is it?

Van is nominally 21'6 and why the caravan industry still work in those units is a mystery to me, more importantly to me is it is 8950mm absolute front to back, which gives me 50mm in the shed so parking it is a precision affair. You can see the custom wheel carriers I made to shorten the van, also has the advantage of reducing the lift when I need to change tyres, they fold down. Mass is around 3200kg, certainly heavier than I wanted but it is basically set up now for our long term travels to come. It is my goal to get 100kg out of it, which I think is quite do-able.

All good fun, we get around quite a bit, done 75000km in 3 years in the D4, 70% with the van in tow learning a lot along the way...........

    Peter
