I raised the height of my van to give it more body clearance as it was woefull. I underslung the axles and sits much better now. Its obviously not an offroader but has offroad clearance now. Couple of pics after it was done. Just need to put wider wheels/tyres on now.

    Our Van

Sorry for only one pic at a time, still trying to figure out iPads and photo's.

Our van is a 18'6" Jayco Sterling Outback Poptop. We bought it new and ordered it with several extras Fitted to make the van much more self sufficient for free bush camping including an extra water tank, giving it 3x82 litre water tanks, 2x135 Kyocera solar panels fitted, Morningstar regulator, 2x100 amp AGM'S Battery's, Simplicity Suspension with an extra 2" chassis lift, 265/70/16" Bridgestone Dueler tyres, Trigg Hitch, Webato Diesel Heater, Larger 150 Fridge, LED lights.

With the improved off road ability and the extras fitted we can get to most bush camp sites and stay for extended periods, having enough solar really is a god send for bush camping.

Towed behind the D3 this van goes most places our friends with Campers can go. Why did we get a an for bush camping rather than a off road camper? One of the really good things about taking a van off road is it doesn't take an hour to set up and two hours to pack up when it's time for home.

    Another pic

Another pic of the van at Charleyong (Shoal Haven River) off of Nerriga Rd, roughly 25 km from Braidwood, the van in this set up has very good ground clearance making it easier to go off road to bush camp sites.

What is your fuel consumption figures?

We have a 24 foot Stirling outback and got a average of 16.5 around Australia.

Between 15 and 16, and that's sticking to the speed limit and maintaining speed up hills. I run Vortex diesel and have the 8 speed. I'm sure if I was a little more careful with the throttle I could get better mileage but don't like to hold up traffic. I haven't completed any long highway trips yet, mainly all back road trips.

    Cheers
