    Poor man's Pintle?

    G'day all,
Can one use the pictured hitch for towing a lunette equipped trailer, such as those spiffy green ones that keep coming up for auction?

Obviously it can't rotate so the lunette would have to do so.

    Yep.
As you said, find out how to convert a No.5 pintle to rotate.
The 1 ton cargo (Crump & Cornish) lunettes rotate.

Is it a long-term solution or just to get the trailer home ?

From memory farm trailers in the UK didn't always have a rotating lunette. There is enough slack for the lunette to move by quite a few degrees but they do rattle a bit when towing.

Long term solution. No trailer purchased yet, or for quite some time. The question had been bothering me though.
Both my Landies have the same set-up, so if I could get a trailer that suits both, it would be more useful. Neither has a receiver style hitch so can't just get a proper pintle on an adapter and swap across.

Dixon Bate in the UK would have something but too heavy to make it sensible to ship out here.
