6 on the ground one spare
you prang a tyre swinging wide to get around a tree on a winding bush track (this happens with trailers)

Now you have 6 on the ground and your spare has a gash in the side wall no plugs or patch will help that.

Sure you can just make it to the next town ... ... ... or not

The feeling of having a second spare is priceless when you are say two days drive from a service location and the above happens. Perhaps consider carrying just a spare carcass on the trailer, you could stuff the inside to maximise space and save on weight.

Two spares when towing is kinda important in my mind

I carry a spare on my 8x5 tandem that never even sees dirt roads. No way I wouldn't have one for a camper trailer.

    Minimum.

If it is a 4 wheel trailer - two spares on the trailer - three all up.
I agree with the first as I have included a spare on my new trailer. I also carry spares on both my other trailers but have never used them.

Intrigued by the 2 spares for a tandem trailer but only 1 for the vehicle? The car has 4 wheels too

Many good points here have helped my decision.
Trailer build will now include a spare. 👍
    Thanks people.

I'm so conscious of this ongoing issue - I carry a spare tyre around my midsection...

It will eventually be our base going around Australia but that will be in a few years. Till then it will be used for weekends away and the occasional week or so here and there. The trailer will be running the same wheels as the Puma 110 and in the interest of keeping the trailer weight down I'm wanting to carry just one spare to cover both the car and trailer.

    What would you do?
I'm interested in seeing pics and plans of the trailer...

You can always chuck the spare on the roof rack of the vehicle if you want to keep the trailer light.
Think about the effect of not having a spare on the balance of the trailer too. Your towball will be lighter, which could be a bad thing.

I have that same problem, and some times it deflates via my exhaust

4 tyres for the trailer (2 on the ground 2 spares) with mud tyres. 5 for the car, all terrains. That way if you hit the sloppy stuff you can just swap the wheels over

Fortunately, my mid-section spare is only a spacesaver.
