    Cool electric trailer brake adjustment

Just took my camper trailer for a run and have been monitoring brake temps with an infra red heat gun.
    AMBIENT TEMP 35degC.

First run to sports grounds thru town, aprox 1.5km. LH drum 105degC RH drum 47degC.

I then calibrated the Tow Pro and allowed to cool off, return to home, just in case brake was faulty. LH drum 68degC RH drum 48degC.

Next a 10km trip at 100kmh with a gentle brake to check temps LH drum 64degC RH drum 48degC.

Return home, heavy braking in town LHdrum 86degC RHdrum 49degC.

So it seems there is an 18degC to 20 degC difference between the 2,disregard the first temp as the Tow Pro hadnt been calibrated.I recall when I first assembled/adjusted the brakes the 2 drums were slightly out of round, one slightly worse than the other.Trailer since has done less than 1000km in the country. When I checked wheel bearings/spring mounts/U bolts/wheel bolts yesterday the LH drum was catching the brake pads slightly more than the RH,both werent touching enough to have to force the wheel past the spot where they touch, they were touching enough to stop the wheel after 2 revolutions.
After all that, should I be backing the brakes off slightly??? From memory when first assembled I couldnt get the pads to stop touching and decided to let wear and tare sort it.
Thoughts please, its a 1400km round trip we are about to partake.

I have my van's electric drum brake linings barely touching the drums. Their effectiveness can be checked using the brake controller's manual lever to make sure they still work well.

On my van the manufacturer(and others) recommend/s...
While spinning the wheel tighten the adjusters till you can't rotate the wheel.
Back of the adjuster off by 5 notches.
You will still hear the magnets rubbing on the drum surface but the shoes should not be.
    Cheers, Kyle

    easy with two,,

you will feel, from the seat of your pants, which side is working better,,

When I first towed my caravan home (4 wheel braked) I could tell which 3 out of 4 didnt work,,

I forgot to add, make sure the handbrake cable is backed off also.
A tight cable can cause the brakes to drag also.

And just for those who like pictures...
