Thanks for the information I am on the look out to get something for my Disco. Will be interested in seeing photos when you get it all fitted.
Cheers

I've just ordered a Stone Stomper for my 110 Defender and New Age Manta Ray Deluxe off road van.
I chose the SS over the RT due to the extended protection, cleaner rear of the vehicle and van, and quality.
Stone Stomper $620
Rock Tamers $440 (ish)
I'll need to fit a down ward facing exhaust tip as well as its recommended.
Just in case anyone is interested in the comparison and price differences.
Best wishes all.
Ken

I was about to pull the trigger on stone stomper but are now thinking of offloading the camper. It's the it system that stops rock hitting the back of the car....I reckon rocks would bounce under the rock tamers than hit trailer than bounce onto the car
I fitted a StoneStomper to the D2 / Kimberley Kamper last year before our outback trip. Definitely money well spent. Without it the front of the KK would have been pretty badly stone damaged and so too would the the D2 rear door ... and probably the rear window.
The SS makes everything that leaves the back of the tug stay down below the drawbar and pass under the Kamper ... Independent suspension trailing arms lost all the underside paint and half way up the sides ... A couple of minor stone impacts to the leading edge of the Kamper guards.
I had the SS Kamper end made to protrude about 25mm wider each side than the Kamper is wide.
By comparison IMHO the Rock Tamers don't offer anywhere near the protection that the SS does. The SS also helps the back window of the tug & front of the Kamper stay substantially dust free.
... just my opinion & experience.

This 'stone guard' came with the Adventure Off Road Camper when we bought it.
Very similar to a Stone Stomper and provided 10 years of good service. Having sold the camper and purchased a different brand we will be getting a Stone Stomper to protect our next camper.
IMHO rock tamers are less than half of the solution as the webbing does the majority of the work.

I have spoken to a few people I have met on the road , & none of them were very impressed with their rock tamers . They were so unanimous I decided not to get them .
Also Christian at Stone Stomper is great to deal with and very professional. He advises that he is making my unit now and it will be on the courier on Tuesday. I'll put photos up once it arrives.
Best wishes fellas.

I received and fitted my Stone Stomper set up yesterday. A quality price of gear. I just need to adjust the chords to take up slack in the mesh, and raise my electrical plugs at the Defender.
Very happy.
