    Jayco caravan SETEC power managment

    Afternoon all,

We have a Jayco Dove Outback and as standard it has a SETEC ST20-111 power management system.

Now since one of our fridges completely flattened the van battery over night, due to having hot water in it(long story), the SETEC hasn't been operating correctly since and now won't even allow 12v operation.

If powered via the Disco or 240v, everything works as it should. It will even trickle charge the van battery.

The van battery has been recharged completely and I have done a few tests to make sure all is where it should be and found with only the battery there is no power at any point other the the +ve input. With mains power, everything is powered up as normal, same with Disco connected.

Only other thing of note is the isolator switch for the battery has no output. Being that it makes no difference whether I switch it on or off. But I think that may be due to the battery power not being distributed.

Has anyone experienced this issue and have a remedy or someone with genuine experience with the SETEC?

Also if there is a suitable replacement or substitute that isn't complicated or an overkill..

    Thanks in advance.

I think the unit in my hawk is the same as yours, but I've not had that problem so can't help other than to suggest you have a look at this if you haven't already seen it.

If you get on the web, the instructions which I think include a schematic, should give you an idea of what your problem is. I had a Setec unit go the same way after the 12volt charging failed in the unit. Eventually the unit would do nothing at all. I had the replace the unit. These units are not highly regarded as a power supply compared to the sophisticated systems now out there.

Yeah, searching the model on the net was the first thing I did. The schematic is very basic at the best.

I have found them online for about 400-500, will take to a local tech and see if they can figure it out, otherwise I will look to replace it.
