    Guys

How does the 'Nato hitch' (both pintle hook & Lunette Eye:wink: ) cope after long periods of use off-road? I would imagine that there is a fair amount of movemen between the hook and eye which over time would cause wear to both???

While we were away, I stayed with a mate who was based in Darwin with the army and he was saying that the current set-up (I think the same as the Nato Hitch) were not standing up too well to prolonged off-road duties.

    They look robust enough!!!

Well my trailer was built in 1966 or thereabouts and it would take about another 2000 years of towing, I'd reckon, for the lunette ring to wear through...
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Saw a good idea a long time ago to shut them up.
You get an Oring from a 4inch dunny pipe and wrap it through and around the hook and ring, buggered if I can remember exactly how. But a few minutes experimentation would answer the question.
